Dear Mom and Dad,
I’ve called this little meeting to have a chat with you about this past week. On Tuesday night you woke me up a few hours after I went to bed, but still before the evening news and forced me to go into the basement with you. I didn’t put up much of a fight then. I played with you both on the futon. I snuggled up in the blankets. I tried to get down and explore, which you did not allow. And I watched the funny tv show you seemed so fascinated by with the large color blocks superimposed over a map of our city. The show’s host was really not that impressive and he seemed to repeat himself a bunch, but I humored you. If you guys like lame tv like that, who am I to judge? [For the record, I need a lot more action, probably involving some kind of organized ball playing or some wild animals to keep my attention for more than three minutes.]
Then there was last night.
You know what I’m talking about.
It was 2:30 in the morning, people. I was all curled up in my sleeping corner, with my arms tucked under my chest and my bum up in the air when mom came in and took me to the basement again. I tried to sleep through it all, but you seemed determined to pump up the base and keep the disco lights a flashin’ outside. No kid can sleep through that, especially when you add in that dumb television show again. I can’t believe that it’s on that late. Regardless, I just want you both to know that I shouldn’t be bothered between the hours of 6:30 pm and 7:00 am.
I realize that there were a few months there where I tried to party with you at odd hours too and fine. I get it now. Turn about is fair play and all that, but let’s call a truce. You don’t wake me up and I’ll leave you guys alone too. Deal?
Editor’s Note: Check out pictures of last night’s tornado damage here (Chris, Amy and the girls are fine, as is pretty much everybody else — no serious injuries and no deaths. Props to the Big Guy).
Look how mature & grown up Gideon is…calling family meetings & writing persuasive letters.
Too.Cute.
PS– Miss you guys!
Oh man, I remember tornado warnings, spending nights in the basement, what fun. I am glad that we don’t get tornados here in the mountains because our trailer wouldn’t hold up to a stiff wind. While we don’t get tornados we do get snow… in June and our flowers wont grow because it still freezes at night.
Luke
PS- Gideon did a good job writing this post, very funny! he should write more often 😉 -KIT
Gideon, you just come to Poppy’s and Grandma’s house and we will let you sleep in the basement bedrooms. If we do have to wake you up, Grandma will make sure the cookies and milk are ready.
