Did I ever tell you that Jud and I have been helping with the high school ministry at our local church? We have. We have been filling in while a youth pastor was found (He has been found! It is fantastic!). In the meantime, we instituted the “everybody plays” clause to game time. I was only exempt while gestating and the six weeks postpartum.
Last Sunday night, while playing an awesomely intense game of chair ball, I sustained a giant hit directly to the top of my skull. My neck is pretty jacked up now. I’m doing that whole turn-one’s-entire-body-to-look-at-something-over-there thing. It is not unlike the pain I felt after the car accident of 2004, which permanently rearranged my spine. When that happened, I saw a chiropractor for a while to attempt putting all the bones back in their original locations. Sometimes they still decide to leave their homes. Sunday seemed like a good time to go on a summer vacation. I’m hoping they return soon.
In the meantime, I am moving slowly, not lifting junk heavier than Greer (slightly over 15lbs…goodness!)(that UPS package on my front porch is TAUNTING me) and in general looking ridiculous while laying around the house. At least the kids are playing nicely together! John Rosemond’s advice is proving so on point. This summer has been saved! Now if only he had some kind of tutorial on adjusting your spinal column.
Oh my goodness! I haven’t played chair ball in F-O-R-E-V-E-R! Sorry about the spine, but you definitely took me back to memory lane.
Love reading this blog from time to time and catching up on life at the Mackrill household! I can totally hear you telling the stories. 🙂 I laughed out loud to this one because I was always that one who got hit in the face during those youth group games at CBC when Daniel and I were helping out. I think 3 step was my death wish. I hope those bones returned from vacation and your back is feeling much better!! Miss you guys!
