– A video monitor with which we can spy on Gideon, currently, and Question Mark just as soon as we quarantine him/her for sleep training somewhere around May.  In the meantime, we are loving GidTV and the easily 45 minutes of hilarity that ensues after he is put to bed at night.  We thought he was sleeping.  Instead he is more likely to be jumping, running his feet along the rails of the crib, or standing up in the corner while holding his blanket and his aardvark (I know, right?  Who has a stuffed aardvark?  Gideon does. It’s from Ikea and it is so soft, I’ve considered holding it at night).  Surveillance is incredibly addicting. I totally understand why cops love it.

– A belly wedge, for my ever expanding mid-section, which still seems much larger than it should be at this stage.  I didn’t even consider the wedge a friend let me borrow until the third trimester last time.  Scary.

– Another car seat. We now technically own one child and four car seats (in our defense, he did outgrow one of them and Poppy may have had something to do with two of them).  Now there is one in my car, one in my mother’s car and soon there shall be one in Jud’s car.  Welcome to the Daddy Mobile.

– Cranberry sauce. Cream Cheese.  Oatmeal.  Yeah, I’m making these:

Cranberry Oatmeal Cheesecake Bars (Tesa Goossen)

2 c. flour

2 eggs

1 1/4 c. quick oats

2 tsp lemon juice

3/4 c. brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 c.  butter

1 can cranberry sauce

12 oz cream cheese softened

2 tsp cornstarch

1/2 c. sugar

Stir together flour, oats and brown sugar; cut in butter to coarse crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup.  Press remainder into greased 9×13 pan.  Bake at 350 for 15 min. Beat cream cheese and sugar until fluffy; beat in eggs, vanilla and lemon juice. Spread in pan over oatmeal crust. Stir cranberry sauce with cornstarch and spoon randomly over cream cheese layer.  Sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Bake 40 min until set.  Chill at least 3 hours (but they taste best the day after).

  1. you can’t have too many carseats. or…stuffed ardvarks 🙂 and yes, the belly expands sooner with each pregnancy– but don’t fear, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be bigger by the end.

Cranberry oatmeal cheesecake bars sound great!

  2. PS– did you get my email? And, are you going to get another crib for baby #2, or are you going to move Gideon into a bed? if so, that should make for some great blogging material, and video monitor footage 🙂
